SORRY! But tumblr found its way back into my life again. Honestly, though, I've been missing my blogspot like crazy so I'm taking the time to use it now and hopefully this will be the start of something great, like me actually using it more in addition to posting to tumblr.

Heard this a few months back on the radio here in Atlanta during one of Chris' visits and immediately fell in love. Just saw the video a couple of days ago and it's that same ol' feeling! No matter what, the boy is talented and an amazing artist. Gotta love the kid!

*So, I just randomly started singing this and I had to find the video to post.

This is the very FIRST song I heard from TLC. Actually, that was my first experience with music, really. On a personal level, if you will. I still remember finding a tape in my older brothers room with "Diggin' On You" and Monica's "Don't Take It Personal (Just One Of Those Days)". That's right, a tape. No cd!

It's safe to say that's when I fell in love with these ladies as artists. True enough, I didn't even know what the hell the song was about. Honestly, I can't even tell you when I finally figured it out, lol.

This just goes to show you that music is powerful.
Watching this all over again makes me miss Atlanta in the 90's :( BUT it's great that I can still listen to this song til this day and love it just as much as I did when I first heard it.

I've had this book for about 4 years now and, until recently, I never fully took in any of the context as I should have before. I'm glad I decided to open it up and start reading again because now, more than ever, I understand what the editor's purpose was and it's made me want to share with you guys.

SO, for any intellectual out there, any person who is interested in finding out about Nat Turner's revolt, or just anyone who loves to have a good book to read from time to time I highly suggest you get this book and give it a read. It explores the topic of this particular slave revolt, Turner's identity, and why he (and his followers) decided to partake in what would be known as one of the most successful slave rebellions in our history. In addition to that, the information included (interviews, first hand accounts, documents, etc.) are all there to help give an understanding of the type of person Nat Turner was, simply because we cannot look into an oridinary history book and find much information on who he was. We all know it's never enough to just google someones name and read up about them on a few sites. That's why books are GOLDEN.

Turner's entire image was erased from American history and though this particular book does not present accurate details or pictures which show us how Turner looked, it does strive to give this man, one of the most influential figures in history, a permanent place in our history simply by not overlooking his life. In my opinion, it has been the most helpful source I have had to help me understand Nat Turner as a man and his legacy.

Check it out. I promise you it's worth the read.

It's Been A Long Time

Soooo, after a whole summer of no internet, no job, and no fun in the sun (concerts that I missed like Trey Songz, Monica, AND FREAKIN N*E*R*D) you would think that one would be calm, well rested, and ready to tackle this school semester fearlessly. While that last part is true, the first isn't. My summer was only great because I was still BREATHING but as for fun? I don't even know what that is anymore. The only thing that kept me from losing my mind was having a cell phone with internet access buttttt there's nothing like being on your laptop. Anyway, enough of that. I've got class in a few hours and I'm still trying to interpret these two poems for discussion so I'll just say that I'm kinda-sorta back, feeling like a zombie who just crawled out of her grave, BUT I'm back :)

There's so much I wanna talk about but I wouldn't even know where to start. So, instead of sounding like I suck at blogging I'll just leave it at that. PEACE OUTTTT.

This semester will be BEASTED by yours truly, same as last. Graduation next year and I can't wait. The end.

BIG UP'S TO BOSTON

No championship rings for my C's but they still deserve nothing but respect for the way proved everyone wrong and held their own. Almost everyone was quick to shut them out but they came out swinging and never laid down and accepted a beating which is, sadly, something I've seen quite a few teams do against the Lakers. It sucks to see a team with so much heart not be able to achieve a goal that's so close but I am sooooooo proud of them.

We got to see Paul, Kevin, and Ray show up and show out. And now the BIG THREE has become the BIG FOUR thanks to Rajan. It's crazy to see how much he's grown as a player! Perk, Tony, Big Baby, and Nate have all been OUTSTANDING and even though he pissed me off a few times I have to give it to big Sheed!

We didn't win but at least I can say that my team is still great.

Shoutout to any CELTICS fans out there. It's not the end. We'll get em next year. Forget the bandwagon Lakers fans, trading talk, and all that other BS people are going to throw your way. Give it up for one of the greatest teams in the NBA to ever do it. There's always next year! I have a feeling things will work out in our favor anyway. TEAM CELTICS ALL DAY!

None of us are going to live forever but death is too much for me...

If there was ever any woman a young lady should admire or aspire to be like---Lena Horne would be that woman. I can remember being in middle school learning more than I ever knew about Ms. Horne through choosing to do a report on her life and her accomplishments and, just recently, I was asked by a professor "what famous African American would you write a story about if you had the chance?" The answer to that question was, without a doubt, Lena Horne. I feel the need now, more than ever, to do just that.

It's still a hard thing for me to accept that such a phenomenal woman is no longer with us. 92 well spent years on this earth and now she's finally home. She will always be loved and missed.

SO, my birthday actually turned out to be a lot more fun than I initially expected it to be. With the exception of waiting for an ETERNITY to eat and having to put a certain waiter at Dave & Busters on our shit list, we all had a ball. There aren't that many pictures because I was extremely hungry and burnt out after a while =/ Had a GREAT time, though & I'm sure next year will be even better.

Highlights of the day/night include but are definitely not limited to:
*Receiving SMELL GOODS & NYLON Nike sneakers from my babes, TISHA & NAIA
*Going to see CUDI @ Morehouse College (last minute but dope nonetheless)

*Being with SHAYE & VICKII, watching them hog the only machine that just gave out tickets like it was nothing
*Shaye's You Got Served moment on the knock off Dance Dance Revolution game
*DAVID the bitch-ass waiter who we better not catch out in these streets
*Adam hoopin' on Shaye, who lowkey thinks she's KOBE or LEBRON
*Schemin' on the little kids who might've been slippin when it came to tickets. You can't just walk off and leave your tickets, kids! NOT WHEN WE'RE AROUND.

**Not a highlight but shoutout to the one pair of shoes I wanted & actually got for myself as a gift a few weeks early :D!

Thanks to last minute tweeting and easy transportation, I was there! The panel discussion was pretty cool, I must say. I didn't try to ask any questions because I didn't think they'd get answered anyway but I still listened to what CUDI had to say about his lyrics, his goals, and being a "renaissance rapper" as the coordinator of the whole thing called him. Despite the fact that I didn't have my camera, it was pretty cool to see him outside of performing and I can't wait until he's back. Hopefully, I'll know before hand and wont have to rush :)

Anyway, I'm not popping champagne and chillin in someone's VIP section all night BUT I AM going out with some friends tonight to act like big ass kids at DAVE & BUSTERS and that means everything to me.

So, with my birthday being FRIDAY, MARCH 26, 2010 I figured it'd be right to let you all in on what I want, well, a few things I want (and no they're not expensive)

1. These bad babies from Forever 21 (might actually end up purchasing them myself, though)

3. BEYONCE (preferably gift wrapped with a bottle of her new perfume, HEAT but you know, I can do without the perfume)

Ok, so I absolutely LOVE this movie. I'm realizing now though that it's a lot funnier now (and more meaningful because of major messages like Cameron finally finding himself) that I'm older. I don't really know if I'd want friends like CAMERON and SLOANE but damn they were pretty great friends in this movie :D

I'm pretty sure you all have seen HOUSE PARTY 4, which is a complete rip off of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and a little sprinkle of the previous House Party movies. Needless to say, it was an epic fail and I'll take this one over that crap any day. VIVA LA FERRIS!

Everyone say hello to my first born, HOVA aka JIGGAMAN aka NURI lmao. Got him today from the Atlanta Humane Society and I'm in love. While he wasn't the SHEPHERD that I wanted to begin with, he was second on the list. I was kind of skeptical about adopting him because he's a little scaredy cat...err uh, scaredy DOG...but after bringing him home and watching him loosen up a bit, I'm quite happy with the choice I made.

This was my first 3D movie of 2010 and I must say, it shitted...(YES, shitted) on the ones I saw in 09. For that, I'll trash those glasses and keep these babies right here. I wish they were darker but eh, they're not actually shades so this will do! :D Ain't they clean, though?

In the previous post, I left a link to VASHTIE KOLA'S BLOG where she acknowledged a tumblr blog that I help run alongside my fellow bloggers, Naia and Byron. We each commented, expressing how excited we were about her even coming across the page. It was something that meant SO much to us because we never intended to receive any type of recognition in the first place. Running the blog is something we do because she's one of our favorite people. Have a look at what someone had to say below...

It seems to me that this person feels a certain way about the shoutout we received. Which is fine, not everyone can give props to people. Too bad none of us were thinking about how we could work to gain approval from people, when we joined together to run the blog and even if we were, the only thing that would matter is that VASH APPROVES. Like I said, we didn't even expect for her to see it or give us props on running it. We simply wanted to post whatever we found so that we could share it with the MANY other fans out there & pay tribute to Vashtie at the same time. Therefore, it's not obsession. It's merely wanting people to know more about Vashtie and her accomplishments, rather than just being the ex-girlfriend of Pharrell Williams, which seemed to be the only way MOST of my friends knew about her to begin with.

PROPS to johnGEE, people now see what an idiot you are. Maybe you'd like for us to make a fuckyeahHATERS or a fuckyeahyouFAILED, yes?

I'm not angry, just extremely amused at how stupid some people can be. This was really funny to me. His comment was a waste of time as it proved just how uneducated he is with his faulty generalizations and overall FAILURE. We all have our own personal blogs that we update regularly and I even left a link to this very one! I guess after thinking over that one comment, trying to come up with something clever to say, he couldn't take the time to click some links. Calling US obsessed only means that he'd also think our followers are obsessed as well and that's not gonna fly. Feel however you want to feel buddy. We'll just continue to do what we do and you'll continue to be sour. We're going to respect Vashtie and not argue on her blog.

OH, AND YOU'RE RIGHT! Crack is wack, Vashtie isn't, so I could totally see why people love her more.

Anyway, I had to share this with you all BECAUSE I'M OBSESSED WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU...but now that I think about it...you guys aren't reading this because my personal blog doesn't exist, right?

So, while I was checking out a fellow blogger's posts, I came across one on a LACE MANICURE. Now, I don't know about any of you guys, but it was a first for me. I've heard of the lace shades, lace shoes, you know, that type of thing but I didn't know about this at all. I think it's pretty cool though and I'm willing to give it a shot. I just HAD to re-blog it because it got me all types of excited, lol. Anybody who knows me, knows that I'm a sucker for different nail designs, polishes, and such. Anyway, I got this book for Christmas and I'm going to start reading it right away, most likely sometime today because if I just sit around and do nothing, I'll be depressed. It's my dad's birthday (he passed years ago) and while I could just sit here and be down all day, I'm trying not to.

Ok, sooooo Cudi was interviewed by the Canadian interviewer, Nardwuar. He's really creepy (in the sense that he knows too damn much about the people he interviews) and SOMETIMES it's cool to see him bring up facts because it actually seems thoughtful of him but then, in cases like this one, it kind of comes off as kind of being rude or disrespectful, whatever you want to call it. The only person I've really ever seen who didn't APPEAR to be bothered was probably Pharrell...but then again, he did kind of seem a bit weirded out. Cudi handled this interview pretty well but I don't know how I would have reacted. There should be some type of boundary, don't ya think? If you're confused, give it a looksie and get back at me.

Back At It Again- ONE CHANCE!

Just when I thought I was up on everything I should have been on, I found out that ONE CHANCE (one of my favorite male, R&B groups EVER) is still hanging in there! They're that group of guys USHER put together. I know you remember the hit, "Look At Her" and even if you don't remember the single itself, you at least remember the video (with D4L's Fabo dancing around with the weird glasses and socks...actually he's just weird all together). For a minute, they were off the scene and I was forced to find ways to get their music (since apparently, their debut album never dropped). Some of those tracks, you should check out. Just google "So Emotional", "U Can't", and "Take You On A Date". They also have a cover of Jeremih's "Birthday Sex".

Anywho, I was on the hunt like CRAZY and then I stumbled across a track that's pretty new and also found out that they're now signed to Nappy Boy, thanks to T-Pain. Recently, they've done their own mix of Travis Porter's, "All The Way Turnt Up", and take it from me, it's the business. I'm glad to see that they're finally back on the scene. I can't wait for some REAL MUSIC and I know they'll be the ones to deliver that. Hopefully, they'll get the recognition they deserve this time around and wont be played to the left...again.
